Vincent's Field Trip & Home Cooked Goodness

Dinner tonight was pan roasted flat iron steak, homemade pasta with chanterelle and shitake mushrooms in a light madiera sauce, and a salad of romaine, golden beets, cashews, and cracked black pepper cheddar. Yeah, I know, what kind of cheese?! It's from Tillamook, and totally made the overwhelming, overcrowded stop at the creamery back in August worth the trip out of our way. It's so yummy. Even Vincent made a point to tell us how good it is. Dinner was seriously good. The kids helped me make the pasta this afternoon. They mostly just watched, but both got a chance to crank the machine. They were both super into it, and excited to see the big flat piece of noodle get cut up into strips.

This morning, Vincent's school went on their first field trip of the year to the Seattle Children's Theater. It was only for the pre-kindergarten classes. They saw, "Harold and the Purple Crayon." Tyler and I dropped him off with his sack lunch, and after the play they'll take the city bus back to school. The fun of living in a big city!

Tyler and I went to a community center that we have not visited in the past, Ravenna-Eckstein. Most of the kids there were about Ty's age, and they all had such a fun time together. None were really playing together, but just had a grand ol' time in the same space. The more fun one kid had, the more fun another would. The best part about going there today was that we found out this place has tons of play time available for the little ones. They have a preschool on sight, but when class isn't in session, the space is available for drop-in play.

Between the community center and picking up Vincent, Tyler and I came home for lunch. I had a little potsticker filling leftover from the other day, so I made it into a patty, pan fried it, cut it up, and tossed it into whole wheat spaghetti with sauteed mushrooms. Sort of a weird combo, but it tasted good. The extra mushrooms were used tonight.
