We brought up the idea of going on the Santa Train to Tyler a few weeks ago. Since then, he's been talking about it, a lot. We finally decided that we should buy tickets and go.
I had reserved us some for today at noon. Unfortunately, it was pouring rain all day. Luckily, the whole of the event is indoors, but there was a lot of running from place to place in the rain. Though it was a wet mess of a day for us, they boys seemed to be really into it.
Our train left the North Bend depot at noon, arriving in Snoqualmie about 12:30pm. We got cookies and hot chocolate from this old army box car, where they baked the cookies, and ate them in another box car behind it. Tyler didn't like his cookies, saying, "They're too crunchy." Vincent didn't like his hot cocoa, saying, "This hot chocolate is not very good." I have to agree with both of them a little. Nonetheless, it's a nice experience. They even had a train table for the kids in the back, which was surprising not too crowded.
We lined up and waited to meet Santa. Unlike the last two years, Tyler ran right up to Santa and climbed on to his lap. I had a video going, trying to get the boys telling Santa what they wanted, but Santa thought I was taking their picture and it didn't quite turn out the way I hoped. Oh well. I'll still have the memory of Tyler being so brave this year. And, of course, Vincent was way into it. He told him two things he wanted, forgot the third, but I reminded him. He said, "It's a special Spiderman book..."
Each boy received a wooden top to take home. That was nice. It was a sweet event, even though it was a bit uncomfortable. I'm on the fence if we'd do it again next year. We'll see how much they're into trains by then, I guess.
