Moving On

Tyler had his last day at Washington International School today. He will be moving on to a new preschool in the fall (um, next week). We are very excited for him, but somewhat sad to leave WIS, too. Tyler had a very positive experience at WIS, but the commute was getting to be too much for us. Funny, I have a friend whose son went there a few years ago, and when I told her Tyler was going, she mentioned the commute being tough. I didn't think so at the time, but since having Crosby, it's been a nightmare. It's fine to sit in traffic when Tyler's just falling asleep in the back. After Crosby was born, it's been screaming baby sessions during the traffic. NOT FUN.

We move on to a school much closer to home. They have many of the same teaching philosophies that we like about WIS, just no Mandarin. Oh well. Another reason we felt it is time to make the switch is because Tyler will start going to Chinese school on the weekends where Vincent has been going. And, last reason for the switch is play dates. We don't get to know the other families at WIS because they come from all over the area, being north of Seattle. This way, we will be closer to class mates, and hopefully Tyler will get outside socialization with friends.

Good-bye Teacher Peony. FYI, Ty's drawings are the top middle bee, and the 3rd row, far right bird.

Water Fun

These are all too good not to share every one. Tyler was so happy to play in these fountains. He ran up and down the row of water, stuck his head in the sprays, jumped through them, and got water up his nose. He said he wished they had a pool so he could go swim. I had almost convinced him to go into the lake, but he changed his mind because we'd have to walk across the park.

**David took Vincent back to Jefferson Park today, with Evan and Liam, for more free skateboarding lessons. Hopefully, I can post pics of that, too. Need to get them from D.

Shoe Tying

I signed the older boys up for a shoe tying clinic at Nordstrom a few weeks ago. This morning, Tyler was sleeping in, so I went ahead and took just Vincent. We got breakfast at the Nordstrom eBar, then went to the store. He did really well, and ended up picking out a cool pair of Reebok sneakers for the new school year.
They let him borrow a pair of All-Stars to practice tying. He said he liked these shoes, but I know in the end, he'd find them uncomfortable, so I convinced him to pick out something sturdier.

First Food

Carrots
Seems early, right? Crosby's doctor said that at 4 months old, we can introduce him to solids. Tyler started solids at 4 months old, and did great. I wasn't going to tackle this with Crosby, yet, but I had some extra time while making dinner tonight, so I added carrots to my prep/cook list. And, the verdict? He liked it!

Four Months Old & Skate Like a Girl

Look who's 4 months old today! Gettin' his swing on.
These were taken at Jefferson Park this morning. We took the boys there to Skate Like a Girl's weekly summer skateboarding workshop. Tyler decided he wasn't into it, so we went over to the playground while David stayed with Vincent. But, he sure did look cool.
We had lunch at a near by ale house, which the boys loved because they served us popcorn when we sat down. Afterwards, we went for ice cream at Full Tilt. They have a few vintage arcade games and some (new) pinball machines.

Proud Mom Of Three

On a good summer day of being a mom to 3 boys, this is what we did.

First, I did not rush us out of the house in the morning. Vincent and Tyler watched a hour of television while Crosby took a morning nap. I got our dinner into the crock pot, cleaned up the kitchen, and packed us a lunch for our morning outing.

Vincent got us free admission into the Burke Museum at UW by reading 10 books earlier this summer. He's been asking to go, and today was the day!
After the museum, we came home for a little quiet time. It took some rallying, and a little bribe of a possible ice cream treat, but we made it out for an afternoon outing as well. To the wading pool!

 Crosby discovered grass.

And, tried to steal the pretzels.
And, tonight, at dinner, Tyler asked to say grace, or as he calls it, "prayer." He was thankful for the delicious looking dinner, and for the wonderful day with two activities. Very, very proud mom moment.
